Auditioning for the CYC

We thank you for your interest in joining the CYC!

The Conspirare Youth Choirs are auditioned treble ensembles for boys and girls ages 9-17 who love to sing. A musical background is preferred, but not required.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR AUDITION

Upon arrival, singers will check-in and then be asked to take a short 15 minute written assessment which will cover letter names on both treble and bass clefs, recognition of common musical notation and phrases, and the recognition and naming of key signatures and musical terminology.

Following the written assessment, singers (and their parents) will be directed to a separate room and will be greeted by either Ms. Revering or Mr. Gabrillo. The singer will then sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee", vocalize (five-note scales using a variety of vowels), and sight-sing a short musical passage. Additional skills assessed include a singer’s ability to independently hold onto their voice part either in harmony or in canon. Current Kantorei members auditioning for placement in Conspirare Childrens Choir will also have additional requirements which will be assigned during rehearsals.

After the vocal audition, there will be a brief parent interview. Following the interview, your audition will be complete, and you will be free to leave.

All new singers will be auditioning for membership in Conspirare Kantorei. Auditions for Conspirare Childrens Choir are for returning CYC members only or by approval from Ms. Revering or Mr. Gabrillo.
