David C. Smith email Interim Managing Director
David graduated from The Kinkaid School in Houston in 1983 and from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN in 1987 with a BA in religion and Spanish. He spent a year studying in Spain and a summer at Oxford University. After undergraduate studies he worked in Washington, DC at the Department of Commerce in International Economic Policy. While in DC David completed a Master’s degree in theological studies at Wesley Theological Seminary. In 1995 David moved back to Austin and became the first Executive Director of Interfaith Care Alliance, now The Care Communities. He left The Care Communities in 2001 to focus full time on the Hill Country Ride for AIDS that he established in 2000. While at the Hill Country Ride, in 2008 he became the founding Executive Director for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride where he served for three years.
