Ann Hume Wilson email
Ann Hume Wilson brings over three decades of experience in multi-disciplinary arts management to her role as executive director of Conspirare. Working alongside artistic director Craig Hella Johnson, Wilson is responsible for operational and administrative aspects of the organization including strategic planning, finance, fundraising, marketing and community relations.
Before joining Conspirare in 2009, Wilson was associate director of the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin for five years, also serving for a year as interim director. At the Blanton, she oversaw all administrative and operational aspects of the museum and led the institutional branding efforts and marketing campaign for the highly successful grand opening of the Blanton’s new building in 2006. She was instrumental in producing the special musical event “Music for the Blanton,” a work by Donald Grantham commissioned for the opening of the new museum which involved multiple sequential performances by chamber ensembles throughout the museum. She also helped launch the museum’s popular Bach Cantata Project series of monthly concerts in collaboration with the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin.
In the performing arts, she has been director of marketing for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, director of public relations for Spoleto Festival U.S.A., assistant manager of the Opera Company of Boston, and has also worked in communications and development for the Washington National Cathedral. In the museum field prior to the Blanton, Wilson was director of marketing and communications for the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, and manager of public relations and marketing for the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. While at the Walters, she commissioned “Fanfare for the Walters” by Robert Sirota to dedicate the grand reopening of the museum’s permanent collection galleries in 2001.
Wilson has taken leadership roles in numerous cultural planning and tourism development initiatives in the cities where she has worked and is a frequent speaker on arts management, branding and strategic planning at national and regional arts conferences. She is a past chair of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of the American Association of Museums. A graduate of Georgetown University, she recently completed a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Ethics degree at St. Edward’s University.
