Commonly Asked Questions

What should I wear?
Attending a Conspirare concert is always a special occasion; therefore some patrons enjoy dressing up a bit. Today's standards for business casual dress are perfectly acceptable for our concerts, most of which take place at churches and synagogues around the city. Shorts and t-shirts are discouraged since the artists and musicians will be wearing their finest. It is also recommended that patrons refrain from using strong fragrances as a consideration of those sitting around you.

When should I arrive?
We try our best to begin all concerts on time. For this reason we ask that you please arrive 20 to 30 minutes early in order to pick up tickets at the box office, locate your seats, review program notes and greet friends who are also attending. To help reduce distracting noises during performances, there are designated pauses in each program when late arrivals will be able to be seated. If you must leave a concert before its end, please do so between program works.

How long is a typical performance?
Program length varies, but a typical Conspirare concert lasts about two hours, including one intermission. You can always call 512.476.5775 for an estimated length.

When do I applaud?
Many works in classical music, such as Mendelssohn's Elijah or Verdi's Requiem, have several movements or sections. A brief pause usually falls between each of them. It has become customary over time not to applaud during these short pauses. To find out the number of movements in a piece, turn to the program pages in your printed program book. After the final movement, applaud to your heart's content.

May I bring my cell phone?
Patrons carrying cell phones, wearing alarm watches and/or electronic paging systems are requested to set them to silent mode or turn them off before entering the concert hall. Please contact the house manager before entering the auditorium if emergency notification might be required.

May I take photographs?
Cameras and other recording devices can create major distractions for the artists, musicians and audience members around you. As a result, no still, video cameras or tape recorders are permitted. All equipment should be checked with the house manager prior to entering the concert hall.

What if I have to cough?
In an effort to help reduce distracting noises and enhance the concert-going experience, complimentary cough suppressant tablets are provided to patrons at the box office for all concerts.

May I bring my children?
Children eight years of age and older are welcome to experience Conspirare concerts. Children of all ages are welcome to attend Conspirare Children's Concerts. Every child, regardless of age, must have a ticket to attend.
