Dear Neruda-Conspirare family,
You were a family of braveheart poets during rehearsals, performances, and recording sessions of “The Poet Sings: Pablo Neruda,” vocalizing and weaving your very souls and bodies into the tapestry of music and words. It was such a tremendous honor and privilege to create and share this with all of you, whether you were singing, playing, creating the space for the work, preparing meals, listening in the audience, or giving voice to the music. Hundreds of things are necessary to make this possible and bring it into our world. Thank you, thank you, thank you…
We move on from here with new obligations that come with every experience that expands and opens us. With this in mind, I share one more poem of Neruda, below. What his poetry can do, our music and your listening can also do to “make their answer to the shuttered heart…”
I will carry the experiences of these last weeks with me always. You all totally rock.
With much love and forever gratitude,
(Translated by Alistair Reid, who just died last week while we were recording. He passed the torch to us.)
