This week is especially inspiring. The composer (and our friend) Robert Kyr is here in our midst as we prepare for the performances of Songs of the Soul and The Cloud of Unknowing. It is my sense that the fullness of these works is the result of a true co-creative process among composer, artists, and audience (as those of you who attended the premiere of Songs of the Soul may recall).
Songs of the Soul and The Cloud of Unknowing are an intimate exploration of divine and human love. There is so much to listen for here, and I wanted to share some excerpts from our 2011 concerts as you prepare to join us for the performances this Friday in Austin and Saturday in Victoria.
“Hoping: Toward Dawn”
“Uniting: Leaving My Cares”
P.S.: Also look for Robert Kyr in the Missa Solemnis bass section next week! Robert and I share a deep love for counterpoint and polyphony, and I was thrilled to invite him to join us in singing this Beethoven masterpiece.
