At the age of 14, Rebecca Muñiz sang her solo debut of Handel’s Ombra Mai Fu at Chicago’s 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions for an esteemed international audience including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Archbishops Joseph Bernadin and Francesco Gioja, and several United Nations officials. She studied Vocal Performance at the University of Illinois where she received the Townsend Award for Exceptional Performance in Music. In Chicago, she sang extensively with the Grammy®-winning Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus and New Classic Singers. She has performed under Sir Georg Solti, Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostoprovich, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach and Jonathan Willcocks. Since relocating to Austin, Rebecca has appeared with Conspirare, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, San Antonio Chamber Choir, Spire Chamber Ensemble, Austin Baroque Orchestra, Texas Early Music Project and Texas Choral Consort. She is featured on the LP Candor/Clamor by the Austin-based band Balmorhea.
