As the first in her family to attend college, Jasmine Williams chose to study music, her first love. Yet she worried about career options. As Conspirare’s first Insight Fellow, Jasmine spent a week embedded with the choir. “Being able to see all the rehearsals and concerts from start to finish . . . showed me a world of choral music that I never knew existed!” she says. She also realized there are many ways she can put her musical talent and expertise to work in the world. “Thank you for including me in everything,” she told Craig. “You opened my eyes to the possibilities.” Jasmine will pursue her graduate studies in music at Southern Methodist University in the fall.
Conspirare’s Insight Fellows program encourages the work and careers of talented singers representing underserved populations. Fellows are paid the full Conspirare professional fee, receive scores for the repertoire, observe rehearsals and performances, and are assigned a singer to guide them.

Jasmine Williams’ Remarks from “Hidden Music”
I met Craig for the first time last year when I was invited to join the Conspirare Symphonic Choir as they prepared for the historic Bernstein100 concert. I remember being so amazed with his conducting and I thought to myself, “I hope one day I can have a moment to see him work closely with his main choir because they are so wonderful!”
Well, fast forward . . . In March I had the privilege of joining Conspirare during their March Moderns Festival as an inaugural insight fellow! The experience was awesome and I will forever cherish every moment spent with that amazing group of singers. I must credit Mela Sarajane Dailey for recommending me.
From the very first rehearsal, everyone was so gracious and welcoming towards me. Any time I had a question, it was answered promptly. Being able to see all the rehearsals and concerts from start to finish was such an eye opening experience and showed me a world of choral music that I never knew existed! Seeing the work ethic of every individual blew my mind, I heard no one complain even though I knew they were extremely tired.
This experience has inspired me to work even harder towards my goal! Thank you so much for allowing me to join you all, I am grateful for this experience, and will always hold you all near and dear to my heart!
