On April 16th, members of the Conspirare Youth Choirs will sing in the Texas Young Master’s Awards Ceremony at the Zach Theater. The Texas Young Masters is a joint initiative between the Texas Cultural Trust and Texas Commission on the Arts that recognizes excellence in 8-11th graders in music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and literary arts. Every biennium, Young Masters provides Texas’ brightest young artists with scholarships of $10,000 over two years to enhance and build professional artistic study. Our singers, paired with members of our grown-up Conspirare ensembles, will sing an original composition by Grammy Award Winner composer Allen Robertson. The piece, “The Mile”, is about the role of arts supporters and educators walk that “first mile” to give young artists the tools to walk the remainder of the journey on their own and forge their own artistic path.
