Dr. Jason Thoms is a professional choral director and bass-baritone soloist and chorister with over 20 years of experience. Jason has been the Director of Choral Activities for nearly 20 years in a variety of institutions including Concordia College New York and Bismarck State College. In October 2020, he founded Dakota Pro Musica, the only professional choir in North Dakota. Dakota Pro Musica has been featured on Prairie Public Television as a featured guest on Prairie Musicians, joined the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra to present “Considering Matthew Shepard” in October 2023, and presents concerts that are relevant to the celebration, commemorations, and cultures of the people across Central North Dakota.
Dr. Thoms has been highly in demand as a octavist in Russian and American Orthodox choral music for over a decade. He has performed Rachmaninoff’s All Night vigil with 22 different professional ensembles, and enjoys being a subwoofer when needed. He has also done a lot of concert work as a bass-baritone soloist singing with the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra, Minot Symphony Orchestra, Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, and the Western Plains Opera Company in the past two years.
