Angela Burns, Mezzo Soprano, has performed as a soloist and conductor worldwide before Presidents Bush, Carter, Clinton, and Obama and in the presence of one billion listeners on TV, broadcasts, and live recordings. She has worked with well-known conductors such as John Rutter, Craig Jessop, Mack Wilberg, Anton Armstrong, Jason Max Ferdinand and Eric Whitacre to name a few. Previously she was the leader, conductor, a Mezzo-Soprano soloist, and choral member of the official professional chorus of the United States Air Force, The Singing Sergeants. Throughout her career she has performed and conducted choirs in the company of thousands at the National and Regional American Choral Director Association Conventions.
In addition to conducting and freelancing, Angela is thrilled to be the Artistic Director and Founder of the newly formed professional choir, Wilmington Voices in her hometown of Wilmington NC. Established in 2022 following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Angela created Wilmington Voices to rebuild a sense of community and connection across diverse groups of people. Recently the ensemble presented Considering Matthew Shepard to thousands in attendance. She’s been toying with the idea for sometime and is excited to see it coming to life. In her downtime you might find her hiking, traveling, working in her yard and garden, or walking the beach in the off season with her husband Cory and their dog LilyRose.
