Tabitha Lewis, soprano, is in demand as a professional chorister, singing with the Artefact Ensemble, the Clarion Choir, Conspirare, and the Philadelphia Chorale. Previous work saw her with Volti in San Francisco, Vox Musica in Sacramento, and Aire Born Recording Group in Indianapolis. Her operatic credits include Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazons, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lily in The Secret Garden, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. Other concert work includes Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Libby Larsen’s Sonnets from the Portuguese. One favorite concert was Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass under the baton of the late Joseph Flummerfelt.
A keen interpreter of newly composed music, Tabitha regularly collaborates with living composers and enjoys the process of bringing to life the vision of composers (including the world premiere and topic of her doctoral dissertation “When the South Wind Sings” by composer Juliana Hall).
Lewis earned her Doctor of Music and Master of Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and her Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (Wheaton, Ill). Her previous academic appointments include Georgia College and State University and Indiana University.
