The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) will feature Conspirare as one of three headliners at the 2027 ACDA National Conference. Conspirare will perform concerts on March 8 and 9 in Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall. Conspirare joins Korea’s Incheon City Chorale and the United Kingdom’s Tenebrae for this biennial conference. In their announcement, ACDA said these choirs represent diverse traditions, unmatched artistry, and international prestige.
This is Conspirare’s second appearance at a National ACDA Convention. Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson reflected the importance of this honor, saying:
“The ACDA National Convention stands as one of the most significant choral gatherings anywhere in the world. To be invited as one of only three international headliner ensembles—and the sole American choir among them—is a profound honor for Conspirare. I am immensely proud of our singers, who continue to distinguish themselves among the world’s leading vocal artists. They are generous musicians who sing with beauty and expertise, but what sets them apart is the depth of soul and humanity in which their artistry is grounded. My warmest congratulations to each and every one of them.
I am thrilled beyond measure to create something special for our many wonderful ACDA colleagues and friends. And that this convention is happening in my original home state of Minnesota makes it all the sweeter!”
Hella Johnson and Conspirare have been a longtime presence at national and regional ACDA conferences. Most recently, Hella Johnson inspired the choral profession with his keynote at the ACDA 2025 National Conference, issuing an impassioned and urgent plea to choral directors to consider their role as frontline workers in these difficult times.
