Andy Young is a classical singer and voice teacher based in Austin, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from the University of Texas at Austin, wher
e he studied voice with David Small, performed with the Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. James Morrow, and was a frequent soloist for the university’s Bach Cantata Project.
Since 2016, Andy has been an active member of Austin’s choral community, performing with ensembles including Conspirare, Austin Cantorum, Philharmonie Austin, and Un/heard. He has appeared as a soloist in works including Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Missa Brevis in C major, and Handel’s Messiah. Recent performances include the baritone soloist in Stainer’s The Crucifixion and Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ, bass soloist with the Central Texas Philharmonic, and premieres of new works in collaboration with Austin Classical Guitar.
In addition to performing, Andy maintains a private voice studio in Austin, where he primarily teaches adult singers of all experience levels. He is passionate about helping singers develop healthy technique, confidence, and expressive freedom. Outside of music, Andy enjoys hiking, camping, landscape photography, cooking, and exploring the country’s state and national parks.
