Soprano Kayleen Sánchez has been praised by Fanfare for her “perfect voice, pure and unshakably direct in delivery”and a “suppleness that renders each pitch precise.” A 2026 American Prize Finalist in Chamber Music Performance, Sánchez is a dynamic recitalist, pedagogue, and recording artist renowned for her expertise in contemporary new music, Renaissance performance, and core art song repertoire.
Sánchez is a championed interpreter of complex modern scores, frequently performing quarter-tonal repertoire while self-accompanying on diverse auxiliary instruments. Her pioneering work includes David M. Gordon’s Syriac cycle Mysteria Incarnationis and Paul Sánchez’s ancient Egyptian epic NEFERTARI (2nd Prize, 2025 American Prize Charles Ives Award), for which she developed the original IPA transcription.
An active researcher in Elizabethan Original Pronunciation, she co-leads the Renaissance duo BEDLAM with lutenist Dr. Laudon Schuett (a joiful yule, 2025). Her versatile discography spans Schubert’s Schwanengesang on period instruments to featured soloist roles on All is Miracle (Navona Records, 2025) with Transept.
Sánchez’s season highlights include performances with the acclaimed ensemble Conspirare and a guest artist residency at Shenandoah Conservatory. She has collaborated closely with composers David M. Gordon, Graham Lynch, and Edward Hart, and holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied under Carol Webber and Rita Shane.
